Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on every 12 seasons of Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she had signed 53 deals for the show, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved from one job to another throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family sometimes relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much and behaved towards her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, particularly after he'd consumed a few drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and she was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an area Catholic elementary school before beginning high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
